	Milken Institute / Non-Profit
	The Milken Institute is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank that helps people build meaningful lives, in which they can experience health and well-being, pursue effective education and gainful employment, and access the resources required to create ever-expanding opportunities for themselves and their broader communities.
The new grid logo is designed by Richard Mehl, my long-time mentor, and the task was to come up with variations of logo animation. When Michael Milken watched one of the logo animations, he mentioned how he found letter M and I within the grid in white lines. Therefore, the final rebranded Milken Institue logo includes a strong white stroke accent in letter M and I. branding / logo animation / infographic

	Coffee Lake Intel Core 9th / Branding Studio
	
Coffee Lake is Intel's codename for the second 14 nm process node refinement following Broadwell, Skylake, and Kaby Lake. 

The goal of this project was to come up with new Intel's Coffee Lake 9th generation sticker design. This 0.7”x0.7” sticker gets sealed on almost every window operated laptop. The sticker design exploration ranged from rectangular wafer textures to gradient organic worm shapes. 

Although Intel ended up choosing a similar design that was used in previous generations, we at lease showed them other creative possibilities.

Each year the iconic SVA logo designed by George Tscherny&#38;nbsp;directs thousands of new students to the doors of the College to embark on the study and practice of art and design. With the start of the new school year and SVA marking its 70th anniversary, we're looking back at the history of the College with the launch of the&#38;nbsp;SVA Subway Series Hall of Fame, a new video series in which some the College's most revered designers and faculty members, past and present, reflect on the posters they have created for SVA and give some insight into their work. First up is Tscherny himself, a decorated veteran of graphic design who describes his style as “maximum meaning with minimum means.”

Tscherny designed the first SVA poster in 1956 (he’s done 14 more since) and taught the first course in graphic design at the College in the mid-1950s. He also created the famous “flower” logo in 1997 for SVA’s 50th anniversary, establishing the College’s strong visual presence throughout New York City. His work bridges fine art and commercial design, surprising the eye with simplicity and wit. As SVA’s late founder and chair Silas H. Rhodes put it, his work is “elegant but never chic, serious but never pretentious, disciplined but never dull, his posters, annual reports, etc., delight the eye and revive the spirit. They shatter once and for all the myth of the incompatibility of commercial enterprise and graphic integrity.”

	From 2016 May to 2017 May,&#38;nbsp; I was fortunate to be an assistant to George Tscherny.&#38;nbsp; George taught me unforgettable fundementals in graphic design. 
Ranging from using X-Acto knife to prototyping through image transfer, George showed me how a designer should always pay attention to the details. Everytime I walked down to a stiff staircase to the basement of his office, I saw and felt his life long works of graphic design ranging from an envelope design to a wall size posters. The entire basement filled with cardboard boxes each labeled and neatly organized dating back to 1951. I saw the evidence of an artist being true to his expression throughout his life. From this experience, I always remind myself to continue being true to myself and my work.

In Atec’s original logo, its geometric shapes show tri-tine contrast with the color palette ranging from dark blue to light magenta. The logo is colorful, vibrant, dimensional and shows gradual contrast. The first impression of this logo is futuristic. However, the logo’s graphic element collides with heavy contrast serif logotypes. The scale of both deliverables is not harmonious. The usage of the main logo along with subsidiaries’ logotypes might be confusing to the audience.

'Simplified' and 'modernized' are the key terms for the logo animation. Atec's newly designed logo includes three major solid colors: black, cyan, and deep magenta. Originating from its old logo, simplified triangle shapes are overlapping to each other. When thinking from logo animation with these symmetrical shapes, one can create interchanging movement.
The primary purpose of Atec's logo animation is to show combinative visual interaction among logotypes and logo shapes. The secondary purpose of the animation is a clear visual deliverance of the three subsidiaries' logotypes associating to Atec. The combination of three triangular logos can work as many objectives when animated.

	Where does electricity come from?
	
It all starts from the mother nature. Birth of electricity starts with natural resources like coal, oil, natural gas, and wood. Suppliers then transport collected natural resources to energy hubs in order to store before sent to the generators. Energy Hubs then apply cost on these natural resources in order to sell them to generators, as know as power plants. Most common power plants are fossil-fueled power plant, combined cycle power plant, nuclear power plant and hydropower plant. Generated electricity is then sent to transmission substation which is the station that stores electricity to different stations through high voltage lines, known as the tower. &#38;nbsp;Area substations receive the electricity then send through power lines that are installed under the ground of the city. Pre-installed transformer converts electricity into domestic size then sends to apartment units through feeders. Electrical meter indicates how much electricity you received and spent through electrical socket. All you have to do is pull the light switch and get charged for monthly electricity bill.

What if we can make this nature harming process shorter with available technology? What if we can produce electricity by ourselves? We create free energy every day: walking which is our kinetic energy. What if we can convert this free energy into usable electricity. New York City has the highest pedestrian traffic rate in the world.&#38;nbsp;What if 8.5 million New Yorkers walk for this free energy?

Watt is a system that absorbs pedestrians’ kinetic energy which converts into usable electricity. By installing piezoelectric sensors under floors or planes where they have in contact with pedestrians’ feet, electricity can be collected and be used for any objects that require electricity. Everything.

 Piezoelectricity is the appearance of voltage across the sides of a crystal when one applies mechanical stress, such as pressure. When vibration or pressure is applied to the piezo sensor, voltage is created. This created voltage can be stored in Watt captivator or as known as the battery, then be sent to units through pre-existing channels. Batteries connected to Watt tiles can be installed into any structures ranging from an apartment unit to the most populated Grand Central Station lobby to even the outdoor sidewalks.

It’s been reported that there has been a 39% increase in street homelessness in New York City since 2016 and an average of 60,000 people spend their nights in city shelters.A research notes that as inequality rises, the rich and poor are increasingly unlikely to interact with one another due to segregated neighborhoods by housing prices.This lack of interaction is also shown in an experiment done in New York City that shows New Yorkers walking pass their own family member, not realizing their identities, only because they have been dressed as street homeless. It awakens us into realizing how much we are numb to these people on the street, just because they live on the street.

	Even though we mainly rely on our cellphones to communicate with others, we have the advantage of access to internet through various ways yet it is not the same for street homeless.

They have to resort to free wifi from public places, and the LinkNYC kiosk has become their favorite spot to use internet.

So, the 1088 kiosks over New York City can become communication devices to connect both New Yorkers.

LinkNYC can be a platform for homeless to post their needs which will be advertised on the screen to grab pedestrian’s attention and receive immediate help.The posting will also show up on an application linked to the kiosk where the location and time of the posting will be highlighted to spread the information to wider range of people. This way, the user can view people’s needs conveniently and check the location to match the resource they can give to help within their time schedule.
